TCS Healthcare Technologies (TCS) is a great place to work with even greater people. Our team is comprised of an incredible group of clinicians and technologists that make the ACUITY product suite a best-in-class solution for care and population health management. Each month we like to take a moment to recognize the dedicated individuals that shape our company with the employee spotlight blog series. This month we are featuring Travis Pearson, Software Engineer.
Travis began his career at TCS in 2009 while he was still working towards earning his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems at DeVry University in Fremont, California. Originally hired as an entry level programmer in the QA department, Travis climbed the ladder quickly into a development role.
“Working in QA provided me familiarity with the product suite and workflows,” Travis said. “Instead of jumping straight into the software development, it gave me a chance to familiarize myself with how the product actually works in the real world.”
Travis took a brief hiatus from TCS from 2013-2015 to work at a start-up company that focused on web and mobile application development. “I learned a lot during my time away; however, it was an extremely high-stress two-year period that made me miss the awesome people and culture of TCS,” Travis said. “I was working over 100 hours a week, and missed the camaraderie I had experienced at TCS. The perfect blend of productivity and a comfortable environment is what brought me back.”
Travis returned to TCS as a software engineer in the beginning of 2016. A jack of all trades, he believes his strongest skill set is front-end development, with a focus on the web and user experience. He has been able to touch all products in the ACUITY suite, but his primary focus has been on the web portal Acuity Connect, noting that his background in web-based products has been invaluable to his work on Connect.
Travis, similar to many employees we have highlighted in this series, enjoys the family-feel at TCS. “All of the gatherings we have outside the office are great,” he says. “We have a spring BBQ, bowling events, a Christmas dinner and trips to Dave and Busters, where our competitive spirits are unleashed!”
Outside of the office Travis enjoys developing Android applications. In fact, he’s had close to 250,000 cumulative downloads over the past seven years and ultimately hopes to bring this experience to his role at TCS.
Travis, thank you for all of your hard work and welcome back to the TCS family!
